What is the Legacy Of Lexicus?
The Legacy Of Lexicus is a Minecraft Server that has slight modifications to it. Using plugins and datapacks, various extra features have been added, such as backpacks, graves, tree gravity, a live map, and more. This method of modification requires you to install nothing! There are even more features added through a Discord bot, such as an economy, player-run nation management, legal system, and more! This does however require you to be in the Discord server to join. The server is in no way scripted and has no events planned. All builds, conflicts, legal procedures, and any other event is the direct result of player actions.
The name itself can be broken down into three parts. Legacy Of, Lex, and icus. Starting with Lex, we have Latin for "Law". A large part of this server relates around that. The "law" isn't necessarily just rules and procedures, but the whole system around them, their enforcement, and their impact on the world. "icus" is the suffix for relation. In this case, showing how the law is related to the server. So my simple definition of Lexicus is, "How the law relates to the server". Now, Legacy Of stands for history of the server. Over time, we'll have built structures, had wars, and made memories. The server will shut down one day. Those two words stand for the story we are making, so when it wraps up, we'll be telling the Legacy Of Lexicus - The story of how the law related to and affected the server.
Webpages
The wiki (you are here) has a ton of information about the server on it, with more being added all the time. There will be directives in this guide on useful pages to go to.
We utilize a plugin called Dynmap to provide a 3D map of the server. As new chunks are generated or updated, it'll load those changes. It works for all dimensions and has a spectator, top-down, and 3D surface views. It also has markers for government structures, player registered bases, and nation boundaries.
We also use a Grafana dashboard to show some technical stats about the server, such as uptime, player flow, entity/chunk counts, hardware utilization, and more.
Rules
All the rules are available on the website under the page International Law. This will be a quick summary of that page, which includes player rights and expectations.
This server is considered a safe server, which means there is no chat filter or chat reporting. However, there is still manual moderation in both Minecraft and Discord. You can say anything as long as you are not bullying, harassing, discriminating or using derogatory/negative stereotyping on anyone.
You are not to kill anyone unless you are in a war against them or have their permission.
You are not to modify another player's property without their permission. This includes, builds, items, pets, and animals.
The initial End fight will be scheduled. You are not to fight it earlier. After this, you can summon the fight whenever you want. The Dragon Egg will be acquired by the IA for display.
You are not to use cheats such as hacked clients, external scripts, or other benefits not provided.
For players that find them in a leadership role such as server owner, admins, prison guards, bot admin, ect, authority and access are not to be used for personal gain or personal loss of themselves or other players.
These rules are tied to an in-game legal system explained later.
Starting Out
In order to join the server, you'll need to register your account in Discord. All you need is your platform and username. For Bedrock, use /register username bedrock and for Java /register username java. This command will automatically whitelist your Bedrock or Java account and enable you to use all other Discord related features.
One of the first things you'll want to do is run /lumberjack. This will make logs fall as you break a tree. This plugin also adds fast leaf decay.
You'll also have a backpack with 54 slots of storage at all times. You can access it with /backpack or the use place block action. For Java users, you can also right click the item in the inventory. For Java users, this item will be a blue backpack. For Bedrock users, it'll be a Steve head.
The server's chat is linked to a Discord channel. All messages sent in that Discord channel are forwarded to Minecraft, and all messages sent in Minecraft are forwarded to that Discord channel. There is no setup or configuration required on your part.
This server also uses Simple Voice Chat for proximity chat on Java. This is an optional mod you can install for higher immersion. If you're a Bedrock player or don't want to use the mod, you can use Discord.
You'll want to decide what type of life you want to live. The most freedom comes from living in the publicly accessible International Agency. However, if there are any player ran nations the have extra benefits, you can apply to join them. You will be bound to their borders for building and mining however.
Economy
All of the economy commands are ran through Discord.
One of the first things you'll want to do with the economy is to of course make money. An easy starting way is /clockIn. This will only work while you're active on the server. After you leave, the system will clock you out automatically, and you will be paid immediately.
The easiest way to gain materials is by using /voidBuy. This is more expensive than player shops, but has an endless supply of every block and item, with the exception of creative only items.
The opposite, /voidSell, will give you money for your supplies. This is at a lower rate than your shop, but you don't need to rely on a buyer. This is a very effective source of income after you've gained lots of a specific resource. This won't work on enchanted items or filled shulkers however.
If you want to give another player money for a service, such as building your house, you can pay them with /pay. This will pay them with money from your wallet. If you don't have enough money, you can always run /bank view to see how much you have in your bank and /bank withdrawal to take money out. A similar command is /payGovt, which as the name suggests allows you to pay the government. Mainly only used for legal payments.
